Galvojant apie mokslo konceptualinę pažangą ir subtilių konceptualinių priemonių įvedimą žmonijos minties istorijoje (pvz., matematinių), epigrafu labai tinka šis Richardo Feynmano pastebėjimas apie gamtos dėsnius – tiesiogiai stebėdami saulėlydžius, vandenynų bangas, žvaigždžių judėjimą danguje, galime patirti estetinį malonumą, bet gamtos reiškiniuose taip pat yra ritmai ir formos (patterns), kurie yra nepastebimi tiesioginio stebėjimo akiai, o atviri tik analizei:

“Even the artists appreciate sunsets, and the ocean waves, and the march of the stars across the heavens… As we look into these things we get an aesthetic pleasure from them directly on observation. There is also a rythm and a pattern between the phenomena of nature which is not apparent to the eye, but only to the eye of analysis; and it is these rhythms and patterns which we call Physical Laws.”
